Natural Resources

The Natural Resources Department’s (NRD) mission is to man­age, protect and enhance natural resources to support the Tribe’s fishing, hunting and gathering rights. The NRD is responsible for providing technical and policy support for managing and conser­vation all fish, shellfish and wildlife resources for now and into perpetuity. Therefore, NRD staff participates in salmon and shell­fish negotiations, fisheries implementation, harvest monitoring, and water management.

Timberland Services

Timberland Services Department implemented forest development projects located on Tribal Trust land and Indian forest land and forest woodlands in accordance with principles for sustained yield and best practices. Activities included invasive species control, brush cutting, thinning, nuisance animal mitigation, herbicide application, logging slash grinding, and site prep for future tree plantation sites.

The department also, in coordination with the Tribe’s Natural Resources Department assisted in conducting Treaty Resource protection activities targeting salmon, wildlife and Tribal cultural resources on forest lands.
