Apple Health (Medicaid) Work Requirements: American Indians and Alaska Natives Are Exempt
Washington State is sending letters about new Apple Health work requirements that start January 1, 2027. American Indians and Alaska Natives are exempt, but other people in your household may not be.
What you need to know
- American Indians and Alaska Natives are exempt from the new work requirements and from the new 6-month renewals.
- If you get a letter from Washington State about work requirements, read it and keep it.
- People in your household who are not American Indian or Alaska Native may need to meet the work requirements starting January 1, 2027, unless another exemption applies. Other exemptions include pregnancy, caring for a child under 14, and being a disabled veteran with a 100% disability rating.
- This only affects Apple Health for Adults (ages 19 to 64). Apple Health for children, pregnancy and long-term care are not affected.
